New Luxury Hotel to Open in Manchester Backed by Former United Forward

Cristiano Ronaldo is planning to open a new four-star hotel on the outskirts of Manchester’s popular Northern Quarter.

The £27m project is part of Ronaldo’s ongoing partnership with Portuguese hotel group – Pestana. The four-star hotel will be the first in the ‘CR7’ brand, named after the footballer, to launch in the UK.

According to plans submitted to Manchester City Council, the 151-bedroom hotel would also include: a ground floor bar and café, basement gym and roof terrace.

Plans would also include new retail units and additional outdoor seating, with pavements widened and trees planted. The ‘high end lifestyle hotel’ is planned to open in 2023 and will make the most of a largely underutilised site close to the city’s main transport hub – Piccadilly Station.

Discussing the project, developers shared that the site: “Presents a unique opportunity to deliver the wholesale refurbishment of an important heritage asset.

“The redevelopment of the site represents an important step towards delivering the full regeneration potential and agglomeration impacts of the Northern Quarter and will make a positive contribution towards the growing demand of the city’s hotel sector.”

The ‘CR7’ brand is an equal investment partnership between Ronaldo and Pestana. The luxury offering already operated across the work, with sites in Madeira, Lisbon, Madrid, New York, Marrakesh, and Paris.
