The creators of club night La Discothèque have announced a new clubbing experience is to launch in Manchester next month.
Designed to safely adhere to social distancing guidelines, Puffin Box will welcome party-lovers into the basement of Hilton House for an eight-week residency. Puffin Box is made up of five purpose-built boxes on the club floor. Each has been designed to provide a controlled clubbing environment for up to eight guests.
The boxes are built to simulate a night out, each equipped with a fully stocked fridge of pre-ordered drinks, seating, and a dancefloor.
Organisers promise it will be an “electrifying 90-minute mini-clubbing experience within your own social bubble.”
Beginning on Friday August 7th, confirmed takeovers throughout the month include Hit & Run, Kaluki, Funkademia, Joy Social vs High Hoops, Zutekh, So Flute, Ghosts of Garage, Bad Fun, Hip Hop / Hula, Love Dose and La Discothèque.
Co-founder of Puffin Box, Natalie Lea, said: “As the hospitality industry slowly recovers, it’s important to support DJs, performers, sound and light engineers as much as we can, and with Puffin Box we can offer opportunities for those in need of work. We’ll be partnering with loads of amazing artists, collectives and brands, both local and international, we can’t wait to reveal it all very soon.”
Each session will have a maximum capacity of 40 guests, with the boxes being cleaned between sessions. To maximise health and safety, other measures include a one-way entry-exit system and two-metre rule in queues.
