Beyond Theatre is to launch the world’s first ‘Covid compliant’ venue offering the public the chance to enjoy live theatre and music.
Set to open in Manchester, the drive-in theatre will see patrons watch from the comfort of their own vehicle or the area immediately surrounding it – to help ensure social distancing. The brainchild of Beyond Theatre, ‘Drive Inside’ features a 90-foot-wide stage ensuring a full immersive experience is granted for each vehicle.
Boasting an 800-seat capacity, the fully licensed venue comes complete with catering facilities. The 70,000 sq ft auditorium is designed around a raised stage in the centre.
Discussing the project, Creator, Paul Levin, said: “People love live music, ballet, opera and theatre, but they need to be completely confident that a venue is absolutely, rather than probably, Covid safe.
“This virus has affected the future of our creative arts and we are excited that Drive Inside will allow the industry to start getting back to some sort of normality and audiences to begin enjoying live performances again.”
The brand-new arts and entertainment concept will first open in Manchester, with plans to further venture to London and Edinburgh. For those playwrights who have missed out on putting on a show this year, the auditorium is also available for hire.
