The Culture Secretary has said, “normal life is slowly returning” as he confirmed further lockdown measures will ease in the UK, with gyms and indoor pools able to open from 25th July. Dance studios and sports such as badminton and volleyball have also been given that date.
Outdoor arts performances including theatres, opera, dance and music, were able to resume from this weekend. Audience numbers are limited and all must follow social distancing rules.
“Having allowed hairdressers to reopen, beauticians, tattooists, spas, tanning salons and other close contact services can now do the same,” said Oliver Dowden, Culture Secretary. “Of course that will be subject to some restrictions on particularly high-risk services.”
At the Downing Street briefing, Mr Dowden added that it is time for the public to “work out to help out.”
To reopen, gyms and pools must restrict visitor numbers and people will be encouraged to change and shower at home where possible, but changing rooms can be open.
Club Cricket has also been able to resume with a limited number of spectators. Clubhouse bars will be allowed to open, as long as social distancing rules are in place.
