Social Distancing for Paultons Park

The home of Peppa Pig World adds virtual queuing and mobile food ordering into their app to support social distancing in time for re-opening. Will other parks follow suit?

Attractions.io is providing the in-app social distancing solution for Paultons Park, with the update expecting to go live in the next few weeks. It will support the much-loved family attraction in implementing social distancing measures so that it can re-open safely, once government guidance allows.

The new functions include virtual queueing and mobile ordering capabilities, meaning guests can avoid crowded queues for rides and refreshments. Visitors will receive information and updates in real time, making it easier for them to enjoy their visit safely whilst practicing social distancing.

Virtual Queuing

The Hampshire-based attraction will replace physical queue lines with virtual ones, which guests will be able to join using their smartphones. They will be free to enjoy the surrounding park whilst waiting ‘in line’, receiving a notification once they’ve reached the front of the queue and can board the ride.

Working in unison with the app’s existing day planner functionality, guests can plan their day at the park easily and all in one place, by viewing live wait times, joining the new, virtual queues and purchasing fast track passes.

Mobile Food Ordering

Another new feature will allow guests to browse menus, order food and drink and pay from within their app, eliminating queues and reducing the need for communal touch screen kiosks and interactions with staff. Visitors will be able to choose when and where they would like to collect their refreshments and will receive a notification once their order is ready to for pickup.

The park trialled in-app food ordering last summer and saw a 38% increase in average transaction size, compares with traditional walk-up sales. This is thanks to automatic features within the app, such as up-sells and cross-sells.

In-app Ticketing

The app provides visitors with instant access to their tickets and membership passes, allowing them to simply scan and go once they arrive. The park will also be able to promote targeted offers, including multi-day tickets, within the app, encouraging repeat visits and increasing revenue.

James Mancey, Operations Director at Paultons Park, says: The safety of our guests and the quality of the ‘Paultons Experience’ have always been our top priorities. Since closing our doors on 20th March in response to the developing coronavirus situation, we’ve been working hard to create an environment that’s both safe and enjoyable for guests to visit once we’re able to re-open.

“The app will play a vital role, as it helps us solves multiple social distancing challenges in a single platform that is already proven to add value for guests and improve their experience, rather than disrupt or detract from it. We’re excited to extend our great relationship with Attractions.io to make this vision a reality.”
